The newest addition to the program for 2008 is windsurfing. After an absence
from London for over five years we now offer the RYA Start Windsurfing Course.
The Course is aimed at people who have done little or no windsurfing before and covers the basics of rigging, launching, sailing and turning. By the end of the course you will be able to windsurf safely, under the supervision of a safety boat during open sessions.
The course lasts around 12 hours and is run over a weekend. Session times are from 0930h until 1700h. All equipment hire, course materials (logbooks, buoyancy aid & wetsuits etc.) and lunch and included in the course fee. On completion of this course it is recommended that you take part in our Advanced sessions on a Monday evening to progress your skills further.
On Water Sessions include; rigging and launching, wind awareness, secure position, 180 degree turn, sailing position, upwind sailing and tacking, downwind sailing and gibing, self rescue position and steering.
On Land sessions include; simulator sessions to cover all practical elements
of the course, clothing and equipment, choosing a safe location, safety information
and basic rules of the road
Membership of DSWC entitles members to reduced course fees as well as free use of Centre craft (as appropriate to members skill and prevailing weather conditions). Membership details are available on the net and in the Centre foyer.
