The Sailing Centre runs a number of Royal Yachting Association and British Canoe Union courses in different water sports; all courses are run by qualified instructors at the recommended National Governing Body ratio's.
All our dinghy sailing courses fall within the RYA Sailing Scheme, the courses cover a wide range of topics and are suitable for everyone from beginner to intermediate sailor. We run the Level 1 and Level 2 courses for beginners, and the advanced modules Seamanship Skills, Day Sailing, Start Racing and Spinnaker Skills.
All our windsurfing courses fall within the RYA Windsurfing Scheme, the centre currently runs just the Start Windsurfing course which is suitable for beginners, Improver Sessions are also available.
All our Kayaking and Canoeing courses fall within the BCU scheme, the centre currently runs just the BCU 1 Star course, but 2 Star courses and beyond will be added to the programme in due course.
The Centres Power Boating courses fall within the RYA Power Boat Scheme. We do not run scheduled power boat courses but instead run courses on dates to suit the individual client. Both RYA Powerboat Level 1 and Level 2, can be run with Tidal, Inland, Planing and Displacement endorsements.
In addition to this we can run ICC and CEVNI assessments
We run a variety of different RYA Yacht Theory courses, all the courses offered at the centre are the theory element only. The courses we offer are; Day Skipper, Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster.
The Docklands Sailing & Watersports Centre is run as a Social Enterprise with limited external funding.
We are supported by Fundraising, Individual Volunteers, and Corporate Volunteering Projects.
Our Youth and Freedom Programs cost £33,000 to run in 2007.
