Docklands Sailing & Water Sports Centre

The Docklands Sailing and Watersports centre runs an extensive youth program throughout the year. This includes our youth club, school holiday programs, away trips, racing and our summer Youth Afloat program.

We have sessions that are suitable for all levels of ability, but can unfortunately only take children from 8 years and up.

The activities available include, sailing, windsurfing and kayaking. The Centre provides all the equipment needed but all participants must bring a change of clothing, to include shoes. They must also bring a towel, as they will need to shower if they fall in the dock. The centre does carry a range of wet suits but it is recommended that people buy their own if they are planning on attending on a regular basis. Decathlon in Surrey Quays is a great place to buy the necessary clothing, alternatively Douglas Gill and Crewsaver clothing are available on mail-order from the Centre at a 5% discount for members.

We are also available for youth group bookings throughout the year, and are particularly interested in developing curriculum time sessions with local schools. The Centre also has a proven track record of working with special needs youth groups, and is now linked with the Special Olympics sailing squad.

All youth sessions are run at a significantly reduced rate in line with the Centre's policy of supporting youth development.

The Docklands Sailing & Watersports Centre is run as a Social Enterprise with limited external funding.
We are supported by Fundraising, Individual Volunteers, and Corporate Volunteering Projects.
Our Youth and Freedom Programs cost £33,000 to run in 2007.
