RYA Day Sailing

On completion of this course the successful sailor will have a confident, safe approach to planning and executing a short cruise in a dinghy/keelboat/multihull.

It is assumed that everyone starting this course has already mastered the practical skills and absorbed the background knowledge for RYA Level 2 (Basic Skills). In addition the, sailors wishing to cruise independently should ensure that they understand and can carry out the manoeuvres in the Seamanship Skills part of the National Sailing Scheme.

The course will be supervised by a Coastal Senior Instructor and will normally be conducted on coastal/Tidal waters. Tuition will be given by trained instructors, using appropriate supervision ratios with regard to the location and competence of the students. the course will include the planning and execution of a short (river) cruise. students will be kept informed of their progress throughout the course.

Candidates who hold the RYA DAYSKIPPER shore based course completion certificate or a higher RYA cruising award will be exempt from the chartwork part of Section B.

Duration:

The course takes one weekend. Start 9.30AM. Finish 5.30PM
