A Day Skipper Certificate is a two element course, theory and practical. Most students take this course during the winter months and then attend a summer practical course before taking the (RYA) assessment.
The RYA Day Skipper Certificate is usually attended by students who have little
or no previous knowledge of navigation or practical sailing. Some students
may have attended an RYA competent crew course or had crewing experience.
This is an introductory theoretical course in navigation and meteorology.
It is intended as an integral part of the overall training for the RYA Yacht
training scheme. Students completing this course should be prepared for the
practical training for the RYA Day Skipper Certificate.
