RYA Safety Boat Course

Aim :

To introduce the techniques used in powerboats escorting racing fleets of dinghies windsurfers and canoes, providing safety and rescue cover for training fleets, and assisting in race management. It is strongly recommended that a member of the rescue crew should hold a first aid certificate (should have experience of first aid).

The course may be conducted in a variety of boats, both planing and displacement. The course takes three days.

Eligibility: RYA Level 2 National Powerboat Certificate (1 yrs experience as minimum)

Weekend Courses

- Students are invited to attend weekend courses. Start time at weekends is 9.30 am. Courses are usually completed between 5.30 and 6.00pm. Course dates and detail are available below

Eligibility:

Students are required to be qualified to RYA Power Boat Level 2 . DSWC encourages students to have knowledge and experience of working in open sailing sessions or (windsurfing) and canoeing sessions.

Course Fees:

Includes an RYA logbook, all tuition, use of equipment including safety equipment (personal buoyancy) course notes and handouts and membership to the DSWC, for the duration of the course.

Membership

Membership of DSWC entitles members to reduced course fees as well as free usage of Centre craft (as appropriate to members skill and prevailing weather conditions). Membership detail is available on the net and in the Centre foyer.
