Fund Raising

The DSWC has a range of fund raising events throughout the year. All of these are aimed at raising money towards our Youth Program (link to youth section).

Youth Afloat Fund Raiser

The Youth Afloat Fund Raiser is a yearly event taking place on the 5th June. We are looking for teams of 18 to enter the event. The water event starts at 1700h and goes on until 2100h, the social side of this has been known to go on somewhat longer!! The winning team will be presented with the magnificent Youth Afloat Trophy . The team with the greatest amount of sponsorship raised will receive the Chairmans Trophy .

The entry cost is £300 with teams being expected to raise at least another £300 of sponsorship.

Extra training sessions to hone those skills are available from the centre for £70 for a boat and helm for 1 hour.

Great River Race

The River Race is for traditionally rowed craft competing on a 22 mile stretch of the tidal Thames from Richmond to Greenwich. We are looking for teams to enter on behalf of the centre. Your entry would include 3 compulsory training sessions at the DSWC the third of which to include a regatta and BBQ.

The entry cost is £1700 + VAT for a 16 man boat or £1450 +VAT for a 10 man boat.

The team must book through the centre and a non-refundable deposit of 50 % would be required at least 1 month before the event.

Extra training sessions to hone those skills are available from the centre for £70 for a boat and helm for 1 hour.

Canary Wharf Challenge

The Canary Wharf challenge happens once a year over Wednesday evenings in August. The event will take place on West India Quay, making this a great opportunity, not only to raise money, but also to increase the profile of your company by racing right by Canary Wharf. The first three evenings will be heats with the fastest 4 on each night going through to a 12 team final. The winners will keep the Canary Wharf Challenge trophy (link to picture and records) for one year. You will be racing in teams of 10.

The entry cost is £150 with teams being expected to raise at least another £150 of sponsorship.

Extra training sessions to hone those skills are available from the centre for £70 for a boat and helm for 1 hour.
