The DSWC is always looking for volunteers to help out with various areas of our operation. In return for your time we will be offering cheap or sometimes free places on RYA and BCU courses, travel expenses and other benefits.
Current Opportunities
We need members to volunteer for helming on our various corporate evenings including the twilight on a Wednesday. If you volunteer for this you will get your BBQ in the evening, for free.
We are currently looking for people who want to get involved in our various youth programs. In order to do your Assistant Instructors course you need to have done at least one of the RYA modules after the Level 2. The centre will be putting on a cut price seamanship skills course on the weekend of the 5th and 6th of May for those of you wishing to attain this level in order to volunteer. The Assistant Instructors course will then be on the 2nd and 3rd of June to give you a month to hone those skills.
We are looking for people to volunteer to help look after the shed during our youth sessions throughout the year. You would be required to help hand out the equipment to the kids and make sure it was correctly stowed away after the sessions. The main times we would need people would be from 1600h - 1900h on a Monday, and 0900h - 1300h on a Sunday. This position would also be needed through the school holidays during our youth courses.
We need people to volunteer their time during the school holidays to assist a youth worker in looking after the children during their lunch break. You would need no experience in water sports but would need to be enthusiastic about working with young people.
